Join our event on February 18th at the Bushuis and witness the progress made by providers and purchasers in operationalizing sustainability, transparency, and local impact. Get inspired through case studies or by meeting market role models, and become part of the movement.
In our first event, we discussed three values that should be at a core of digital infrastructure - transparency, sustainability, and local impact. We asked how these values are being operationalized by both IT providers and IT purchasers.
Key Insights:
Transparency Gaps: Purchasers struggle with limited visibility into their supply chain, lacking sufficient data to assess the sustainability efforts of providers. This hinders responsible decision-making and accountability.
Local Impact Blind Spot: Regional providers often lack visibility, making it challenging for purchasers to prioritize local contributions. Meanwhile, global players dominate the market, pushing regional impact into the shadows.
Sustainability Lacking Criteria: Although sustainability is increasingly important, clear criteria mostly exist on ICT and network equipment - the scope needs to be bigger.
Providers' Struggles: Providers feel the pressure to improve transparency but lack consistent frameworks to guide them. They also face challenges aligning sustainability efforts with business value, which is not yet a competitive advantage.
Regional Providers vs. Global Players: Smaller, local providers face tough competition from global players, struggling to showcase their positive contributions to local economies and sustainability efforts.
We emphasized the need to make these values - transparency, sustainability, and local impact foundational to the market and identified three key pillars to drive change:
Increasing awareness
Supporting policies
Implementation frameworks
